Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal Feb.18 hit and run in Lake Elsinore, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday.
The victim of the hit and run was identified as 44-year-old Joshua Nichols.
Twenty-year-old Amber Lauren Lievanos of Lake Elsinore was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. A 20-year-old Lake Elsinore man also was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.
The hit and run occurred near Riverside Drive west of Baker Street. Deputies responded just before 1 a.m., found a pedestrian dead in the roadway and discovered that the driver who had hit the pedestrian had fled. Officials reported that the suspect may have been in a dark-colored vehicle and requested the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and vehicle.
Two days after the hit and run, the Riverside Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Traffic Team used information about the suspect and vehicle reported by the public to identify both and conducted a traffic stop when the vehicle left a residence in Lake Elsinore. Deputies arrested the 20-year-old man suspected of being an accessory after the fact and identified Lievanos as the second suspect involved, then arrested her.
