Syree Matthews passed for 224 yards and three touchdowns and added another 113 yards and two scores on the ground as Moreno Valley outlasted visiting Paloma Valley 34-27 in a nonleague game Friday night.
Johnny Robinson had five receptions for 122 yards and was on the receiving end of all three touchdown passes by Matthews.
Matthews got Moreno Valley (2-0) on the board with a 65-yard run in the opening quarter. He connected three times with Robinson later in the first half to help the Vikings extend the lead to 27-7.
Paloma Valley (0-2) rallied behind quarterback Orlando Gonzalez, who passed for 256 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score
Arthur Clemons caught five passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, and Noah Davis had a pair of touchdown catches for the Wildcats.

Travante James-Reek ran for 152 yards and a touchdown for Beaumont (2-0). Braedon Miller had two touchdown catches, and Quillan Davis had two scoring runs for the Cougars.
Corona 53, Bloomington 34: Will Hitchcock passed for 264 yards and three touchdowns as the Panthers won a nonleague game Thursday. Ben Campusano had five catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and Angel Heredia added two scores on the ground for Corona (1-1). Derek and Dylan Fraembs combined to run for 256 yards and score three touchdowns for Bloomington (0-2).
Aquinas 34, Glendora 7: Charlie Reyes threw three touchdown passes in leading the Falcons to a nonleague win Friday. Jordan Stewart caught two of those touchdowns passes, and Champ Brown added a pair of scores on the ground for Aquinas (1-1).
California School for the Deaf-Riverside 60, Animo Robinson 0: Gio Visco passed for 163 yards and five touchdowns and added 71 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lead the Cubs to victory in their season opener. Devon Miller and Morgan Hawkins each caught two touchdown passes for CSDR.
Chino Hills 35, El Camino 3: Jacob Jimenez ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns as the Huskies won a nonleague game Friday. Ja’Kobi Grant had two sacks for Chino Hills (2-0).
Elsinore 30, Temecula Valley 0: Xavier Stankevich ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns as the Tigers won a nonleague game Friday. Kai Tamagpong added 136 yards and a touchdown for Elsinore (2-0).
Garey 27, Pomona 20: Steven Toscano rushed for two touchdowns, including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter to lead the Vikings to a nonleague win Thursday. Keivon Chatman ran for 95 yards for Garey (1-1). German Valenzuela ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns to lead Pomona (0-2).
Summit 28, Chino 25: Jack Arany tossed a pair of touchdown passes as the SkyHawks won a nonleague game Friday. Shea Garner returned a punt for a touchdown for Summit (2-0). Carson Hoover threw two touchdown passes and added two scores on the ground for Chino (0-2).
Great Oak 31, Rancho Verde 6: Trent Lux passed for 203 yards and two touchdowns and added a score on the ground as the Wolfpack won a nonleague game Thursday. Ryder Smith ran for a touchdown and had two sacks for Great Oak (1-1).
Claremont 50, Diamond Bar 42: Brandon Coronado passed for 319 yards and four touchdowns and scored twice on the ground as the Wolfpack won a nonleague game Friday. Kingston Fajardo caught eight passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns for Claremont (2-0).
Patriot 28, Granite Hills 23: Isaac Galiza ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors won a nonleague game Friday. Nathan Villanueva added 172 yards and a touchdown on the ground for Patriot (2-0).
Ontario 35, San Gorgonio 13: Samuel Abajuo ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns as the Jaguars won a nonleague game Thursday. Andrew Wilson added 90 yards and two scores on the ground for Ontario (1-1).

West Valley 49, La Sierra 6: Lima Amisone ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns and returned an interception for another score to lead the Mustangs (2-0) to a nonleague win Thursday.
