The son of an Azusa couple found dead in their home over the weekend has been arrested for the slayings.
Gabriel Luis Contreras, 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged Friday with two counts of murder and two counts of assault with a firearm, a sheriff’s department statement said.
Investigators have not revealed the motive behind the March 15 killings in the 300 block of North Twintree Avenue.
Azusa police checking about a possible domestic violence at the house after neighbors heard someone screaming that afternoon saw the son in front of the home. He had injuries and was hospitalized. They saw the couple’s bodies inside the home.
All three had apparent knife wounds, officials said.
Linda Rodriguez, 50, died of a gunshot wound to the head and multiple sharp force injuries while Arthur Contreras, 58, died from multiple sharp force injuries, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Gabriel Contreras remained in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles in lieu of $2 million bail.
