The principal of Ramona High in Riverside was arrested last month on suspicion of driving under the influence and placed on administrative leave, authorities said.
Victor Cisneros, who is about 45, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. on March 18 after crashing into a light post near Royal Hill Drive and Alessandro Boulevard, Officer Ryan Railsback, a Police Department spokesman, said on Tuesday, April 8.
Cisneros is not in custody and has not been charged with any crime tied to the collision. He could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
There were four adults including the principal in the car, Railsback said, with several having complaints of pain. Cisneros was cited and released to someone who could drive him home — a common occurrence in minor DUI cases — Railsback said.
The Riverside Unified School District sent a statement to families of Ramona students on March 20: “We are writing to share an important leadership update with you. Ramona High School Principal Victor Cisneros will be out for an unspecified period of time.”
The statement did not say that Cisneros had been arrested.
Cisneros is on leave, Elizabeth Pinney-Muglia, a district spokeswoman, said Tuesday. She would not say why, citing the confidentiality of personnel matters. The principal of Riverside Virtual School, Kristian Sorensen, is serving as acting principal, Pinney-Muglia said.
Cisneros has been Ramona’s principal since 2017, according to his LinkedIn page. His biography says he was assistant principal there from 2013 to 2017.
