A man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of homicide related to the death of a man found unconscious in a Hemet parking lot four days prior.
Just before 2:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, the Hemet Fire Department responded to the 300 block of East Florida Avenue, near Carmalita Street, for a report of an unconscious man in the parking lot. He was taken to a local trauma center for treatment, according to a Saturday news release.
An hour and a half later, the hospital informed Hemet police that the man sustained major head trauma. Hemet PD then began investigating and later determined that the man was assaulted and left unconscious, according to the news release.
Despite the efforts to save his life, the man died on Monday, March 24. Authorities have not yet released his name.
On Tuesday, March 25, Michael Martin, 41, was arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide. He is being held on $1 million bail.
