A janitor for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District has been arrested on suspicion of committing lewd acts on a minor and other offenses following an investigation by a Riverside County task force.
There is no indication in public records that the child was in the district.
David Robledo Jr., 36, of Homeland pleaded not guilty at Southwest Justice Center in French Valley on Monday, March 24, to two counts of the lewd acts charge and one count of possession of child pornography, all felonies, and one count of destroying evidence, a misdemeanor.
Robledo was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning as of Friday.
The victim, according to a sworn declaration written by a Menifee police detective to increase bail, was a girl child who was 10 and 11 years old when the crimes are alleged to have occurred in 2018 and 2019.
Robledo has worked at several schools, the District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
A written statement from the district said it had taken disciplinary action against Robledo, but the statement did not elaborate and referred all media inquiries to the DA’s Office.
The district did not answer questions regarding which campuses he has worked at or his employment status after messages were left for its superintendent, an assistant superintendent and the public information officer on Wednesday and Thursday.
The declaration said Robledo admitted using his phone’s camera to record images in a girls’ bathroom, although he had not been charged with doing so.
The investigation began in December 2024 when the Riverside County Child Exploitation Team received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children that an online user was storing child pornography on remote servers, the DA’s Office said.
Investigators served search warrants that linked the images to Robledo, and a search of a hard drive found images of him sexually assaulting the child, according to the declaration.
The criminal complaint filed by the DA’s Office accused Robledo of deleting images as well as phone apps that stored child pornography.
Authorities asked anyone with information on Robledo to call the task force at 760-863-8168.
