What were you doing when you were 10 years old?
A San Bernardino girl is graduating from community college.
Alisa Perales, who will turn 11 by the Friday, May 23, ceremony, will be the youngest person ever to graduate from Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, a college news release states.
And she’s not just walking away with one degree.
Alisa — whose GPA will near 4.0 — is earning two associate degrees: one in multiple sciences and another in mathematics.
With one more semester of classes, she would have received two more degrees: computer science and physics.
Alisa, who had been homeschooled, started at Crafton when she was 8.
“I was a little bit nervous … because this was my first time going to a public school,” she said in the release. “But then I met some really nice people and that was super helpful.”
She credits her father, Rafael Perales, for “pushing me to do well in school and try my best to work hard.”
In the release, her proud dad added: “She has been a little different her whole life, but I have always taught her that there’s nothing out there that you’re not capable of understanding.”
Alisa’s post-college plans include working in the artificial intelligence tech industry by joining a company or launching a new one with her father.
“Crafton wants everyone to succeed, but you have to work hard to get what you want,” Alisa said in the release. “Do not ever have any doubts over what you want to do in life. Just go out there and give it a shot.”
