On Monday, Aug. 4, it was back to school for youths in the Colton and San Bernardino school districts, who were among the region’s first to return to campus.

At McKinley Elementary School in the Colton Joint Unified School District, the 2025-26 school year got underway early Monday with the usual nervousness and excitement.
Students in the nearby San Bernardino City Unified School District also said goodbye to summer on Monday.
Many Inland school districts will be welcoming students back over the next couple weeks.
Other first days include Ontario-Montclair on Wednesday, Aug. 6, and Redlands and Corona-Norco on Thursday, Aug. 7.
Another round of districts start the school year next week, with Riverside, Murrieta, Hemet, Pomona and Temecula among them.
