A 31-year-old man allegedly under the influence struck and killed a bicyclist with his vehicle on Saturday in Fontana, authorities said.
At around 11:09 p.m., Fontana police officers responded to a call regarding a collision in the area of Ivy Avenue and Palmetto Avenue, south of Foothill Boulevard. Officers determined the male victim was riding his bicycle when he was run over.
The suspect vehicle driver was identified as Gilbert Perez, according to a police news release. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Perez was booked on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury, according to jail records.
Police did not immediately disclose the name of the victim.
