By DAVID KLEPPER WASHINGTON (AP) — A newly declassified U.S. intelligence assessment confirms that analysts at American spy agencies found no coordination between Tren de Aragua and the Venezuelan government, contradicting statements the Trump administration used to justify invoking the Alien Enemies Act and deporting Venezuelan immigrants. The redacted memo from the National Intelligence Council said there was no indication that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro or other senior government officials are directing the actions of Tren de Aragua, a gang that originated in a prison in Venezuela. That is even as some mid- to low-level Venezuelan officials may have ties…

ANAHEIM — Long before any of his Angels teammates hit the field for pregame work on Tuesday, Taylor Ward was out there grinding at-bats against an Angels minor-league pitcher. Ward has been in a deep slump. He wanted some extra work in game-like conditions, so the Angels brought in one of their low-level minor leaguers to face him. Manager Ron Washington said Ward saw about 35 to 40 pitches. “He hit some of them pretty good and some of them he got beat,” Washington said. “That happens, whether you’re swinging good or not. … It was just to get him…

By TOM MURPHY, Associated Press Rite Aid customers can expect their local store to close or change ownership in the next few months, as the struggling drugstore chain goes through another bankruptcy filing. The company plans to sell customer prescription files, inventory and other assets as it closes distribution centers and unloads store locations. Stores will remain open for now, but the company isn’t buying new inventory so bare shelves are likely become more common. “I think what we’ll progressively see is the stores will become more and more spartan,” said retail analyst Neil Saunders.
