Donald Trump weighed in on the dock workers’ dispute that is affecting a variety of East Coast and Gulf Coast ports, taking sides on behalf of the longshoremen’s union. Although union members ended their strike after management agreed to a 62-percent wage boost, the two sides still are at odds over automation. One of three people involved in running an unlicensed Riverside care facility that neglected and abused six severely disabled residents has been sentenced to seven years in state prison, the California Department of Justice said.Ronnel Tiburcio, convicted in July 2023 of six counts of elder abuse likely to produce great bodily harm and death, was sentenced on Dec. 13. Tiburcio worked as an assistant for Joel Ombao, who owned several hospice companies including Secure Hands.The two men, along with registered nurse Nimfa Molina, were responsible for operating and caring for residents at the facility. The California Highway Patrol is helping the San Bernardino Police Department tackle a high rate of violent crimes.Recent data shows the number of homicides in the city is more than three times the state average, according to a news release on the Governor’s Office website.
