SEATTLE — Mason McTavish continued his torrid scoring stretch with a goal and an assist to lead the Ducks to their third straight win.
McTavish scored the tying goal early in the second period and assisted on Robby Fabbri’s go-ahead goal 4:35 later, sending the Ducks to a 6-4 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
Troy Terry, Cutter Gauthier, Jackson LaCombe and Frank Vatrano (empty net) also scored for the Ducks, who took the lead for good with three goals in the first eight minutes of the second. The Ducks’ win streak – during which they have scored at least five goals in each game – comes after a stretch when they lost seven of eight games.
Fabbri, LaCombe and Vatrano each had a goal and an assist as the Ducks (21-23-6, 48 points) moved past the Kraken (22-27-3, 47 points) in the race for a Western Conference wild-card playoff spot. Ryan Strome added two assists, and goaltender Lukas Dostal made 26 saves.
Eeli Tolvanen, Mitchell Stephens, Jaden Schwartz and Shane Wright scored and Brandon Montour had two assists for Seattle, which suffered its second consecutive loss after falling to the Edmonton Oilers, 4-2, on Monday. Philipp Grubauer, making his first start in goal since Jan. 12, stopped 17 shots.
Trailing 3-2 after the first period, the Ducks scored three unanswered goals in the second on just six shots.
McTavish tied the score 1:04 into the middle frame on a one-timer from the bottom of the right faceoff circle after a cross-ice pass from Strome. It was McTavish’s sixth goal in his past four games, matching his output from the first 40 games of the season.
McTavish then picked off an errant pass in the slot and set up Fabbri for a snap shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle at 5:39 for the go-ahead goal.
LaCombe found the back of the net from the high slot at 7:58 to make it 5-3.
Wright scored off a rebound on the power play at 6:15 of the third to pull the Kraken within a goal, but Vatrano scored an empty-netter at 18:44 to clinch the victory.
Terry opened the scoring at 1:23 of the first period, roofing a wrist shot from the low slot after taking a pass from Strome.
Tolvanen tied the score at 6:43 on a slap shot from the high slot, and Stephens scored on a backhanded wraparound shot to give Seattle the lead at 8:20.
Gauthier scored off his own rebound on a two-on-one rush to tie the score at 2-all at 11:59.
Schwartz gave Seattle a 3-2 lead at 14:01, converting a pass from Kaapo Kakko on a two-on-one rush.
