Two people were injured in the early hours of Monday, Dec. 23 as they fled an apartment fire on the 200 block of East 13th Street in San Bernardino.
One person was injured after jumping out from the second story of the building, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Fire Department. The fire, described by authorities as heavy, was burning on the first floor of the building and threatening the second story and blocking the main escape route for the second-story units. The person was transported to a local trauma center.

A second person was injured after quickly evacuating his apartment and received treatment at the scene, according to the news release.
Firefighters responded around 5:30 a.m. after a 911 call reported that there may have been up to four people trapped in a burning apartment.
No others were found in the building after a search. The fire ultimately damaged three units in the building.
It was knocked down by fire personnel within half an hour of their arrival.
