Two passengers riding in a van were killed in a suspected DUI crash in Jurupa Valley early Saturday, July 5.
The collision happened shortly before 3 a.m. near the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Beach Street, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release.
Arriving deputies found the van and another vehicle blocking the eastbound lanes of Limonite Avenue, west of Beach Street. The van had multiple passengers who weren’t wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, authorities said.
Two passengers were dead at the scene. The coroner identified them as Sabrina De Lara, 18, of Eastvale and Javier Rios, 24, of Jurupa Valley.
Both drivers and additional van passengers sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals.
The driver of the van, 23-year-old Bryan Cruz-Arenas, was booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of driving under the influence causing death/injury, according to the news release.
Limonite Avenue, between Bain Street and Beach Street, was closed until shortly before noon.
