A 29-year-old Rialto man was fatally shot by a 40-year-old Rialto man after the 29-year-old attacked members of his family on Friday, authorities said.
On Friday, June 27 at around 1:13 p.m., Rialto Police Department officials received a 911 call about a family disturbance in the residential area of 300 North Spruce Avenue, south of Foothill Boulevard, according to a police news release. Upon arrival, officers found multiple injured family members, including the 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a trauma center, where he died shortly after.
Investigators learned the 29-year-old had assaulted a male family member, 57, stabbed a female adult family member, who was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and had tried to stab another adult female family member when the 40-year-old man shot him to prevent any further injuries to family members.
The two female victims are 31 and 61 years old, police said.
The names of those involved were not immediately released.
The 40-year-old who shot the attacker was described only as an “involved party.”
No arrests had been made. Detectives with the Rialto Police Department were continuing their investigation and the case will be forwarded to the San Bernardino
