A man was shot by Lake Perris park rangers on Saturday, May 10, after he attempted to pull out a concealed firearm, officials said.
California State Park Rangers located the man around 7 p.m., after hearing gunshots coming from a parking lot in the recreational lake area.
The man was shot by at least one park ranger after he reportedly tried to pull out a concealed firearm, the Riverside sheriff’s department said in a news release.
He was hospitalized for injuries officials described as “non-life-threatening.”
Additional details about the man were not released. Multiple people who reportedly witnessed the shooting did not speak to law enforcement, according to the release.
