An Arcadia man was arrested after allegedly posing as an IRS agent to take money from a victim in Norco, authorities said.
Deputies responded on Thursday, May 1 to the 2300 block of Kips Korner Road, where a victim told them a man pretended to be an IRS agent and took about $20,000 from them after claiming the victim’s financial accounts were compromised, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The fraudulent IRS agent, later identified as Ziquan Ou, 31, contacted the victim again, claiming they owed additional fines, authorities said.
When Ou arrived at the victim’s home to pick up the money, deputies took him into custody. Deputies served a search warrant on Ou’s car and found a gun, drugs and multiple identification cards, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
Ou was booked on suspicion of multiple fraud-related offenses and possession of narcotics.
The sheriff’s department believes there may be additional victims and encourages anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Acosta at the Norco Sheriff’s Station at 951- 270–5673.
