A man set a car on fire this week in a front yard of a Corona home — and himself as well — before fleeing into the night with flames coming from his clothing.
Corona fire officials are searching for him.
In the early hours of Tuesday, March 4, police and firefighters responded to the 900 block of Wakefield Avenue, where they found the sedan on fire.
It ended up destroyed, with the home suffering some damage, the Corona Fire Department said.
Video from the resident’s Ring camera shows a man believed to be in his 30s setting the vehicle and then himself on fire. Officials estimated he is five-foot-nine to six-foot-one with shoulder-length, light-colored hair.
It is unclear if he set himself afire on purpose or by accident, or the crime’s motive.
He drove away in what appeared to be a late-model, white pickup truck, such as a Chevrolet or GMC, the Fire Department said, with tinted windows and light-colored rims.
The Fire Department asked anyone with information about the arson to call investigators at 951-736-2219.
