Ten Inland girls wrestlers received a top eight seeding in their respective weight classes for the upcoming CIF State Championships.
The girls tournament begins Thursday at 9 a.m. at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, with action continuing Friday and Saturday. The championship round is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
Lakeside senior Jillian Wells is the defending champion at 100 pounds, a title she won while wrestling for Modesto Central Catholic. She is the No. 3 seed this season and opens against Pia Hill of Folsom. Wells was the 101-pound runner up during her sophomore season at Lakeside.
Orange Vista senior Ayana Contreras is the No. 5 seed in the 110-pound bracket and opens against Caroline Collins of Carlsbad.
Chino senior Tilly Kakuk is seeded No. 5 at 120 pounds and opens against Georgie Michalchuk of San Francisco Riordan.
Orange Vista junior Zahra Stewart is the No. 5 seed in the 125-pound bracket and opens against Delilah Robles of Bakersfield Liberty. Stewart placed seventh last season at 120 pounds while wrestling for Yucaipa.
Colony senior Renice Gonzalez is seeded No. 3 at 130 pounds and opens against Madeline Vandermolen of San Jose Lincoln. Gonzalez is seeking the third podium finish of her career. She placed eighth at 131 pounds as a sophomore and fifth at 135 pounds last season.
Corona sophomore Jestinah Solomua is the No. 3 seed in the 145-pound bracket at opens against Iliyanah Nava of Salinas. Solomua finished eighth at 135 pounds last season.
Chino sophomore Natalie Blanco is seeded No. 7 at 155 pounds and opens against Gabriella Celaya of Mountain View Saint Francis.
Hemet senior Diara Pomares is the No. 7 seed in the 170-pound bracket and opens against Rossy Parra of San Diego Lincoln.
Orange Vista freshman Tiffany Bell is seeded No. 6 at 190 pounds and opens against Isabella Urias of Bakersfield.
Corona senior Jasmin Taulanga is the No. 5 seed in the 235-pound bracket and opens against Marley Smith of Susanville Lassen.
