Two homeless men were arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, June 29, after Riverside police say they fatally stabbed a third during a fight.
The confrontation happened around 7:20 a.m. in the 9900 block of Magnolia Avenue in the city’s Arlington neighborhood.
Officers who responded to a report of a stabbing found 58-year-old Michael Pope of Riverside wounded. He died in a hospital.
Witnesses described the attackers to dispatchers, and officers arrested two men they found nearby: Christopher James Buschbaum, 39, and Myron Daniel, 67. In addition to murder, Buschbaum was booked on suspicion of using a weapon while committing a felony.
Both were being held without the possibility of bail at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
“This was a senseless act of violence, but thanks to the quick actions of our dispatchers in obtaining critical information, the swift response by our patrol officers, and the thorough investigative work by our homicide detectives, these two murder suspects are off the streets,” investigations Capt. Chad Milby wrote in a news release.
Police ask anyone with information on the case to contact Detective Anthony Watkins at 951-353-7105 or AWatkins@RiversideCA.gov.
